Used when inserting a decorative element into doors.
A spiral router cutter with a double-material blade is the answer to the needs of one of the well-known door manufacturers. It uses a combination of carbide and polycrystalline diamond cutting teeth. It is a highly specialised tool dedicated to the finishing of wood and wood-based materials finished in foil, paper, laminate or veneer.
The history of this cutter is associated with the said manufacturer’s search for a tool which would make a groove for the assembly of a specific decorative profile. The main problem was the door material. It was a combination of two types of board – HDF and MDF.
Therefore it became necessary to use an individual solution which would allow two grades of material to be processed simultaneously. The standard tools used would become blunt on HDF boards. As a result, one milling cutter used alone would be worn out during the production of just one door.
It should be noted that the minimum diameter of the work piece was 3 mm, and it is not possible to make a diamond cutter of such a small diameter. That’s why our design team has developed a tool which efficiently processes two grades of material at the same time. The Polcomm specialists proposed an innovative solution – a combination cutting teeth of carbide and polycrystalline diamond. The result is that the diamond tips works the HDF board and the carbide tips works the MDF.
